Empowering People to Thrive – With Dignity and Confidence.

At Oasislife, we support adults with mild, moderate, severe, and profound learning disabilities, including those with multiple or complex needs. These may include:

“Everyone deserves the chance to live a full, connected life.”

Our approach is flexible, creative, and outcomes-focused; with services ranging from:

What Is a Learning Disability?

A learning disability is a lifelong condition that affects a person’s ability to process information, learn new skills, and carry out everyday tasks such as managing money, cooking, or making social connections. People with learning disabilities may:

  • Take longer to understand instructions
  • Need support communicating choices
  • Benefit from repetition, structure, and visual cues
  • Be at risk of social isolation or exclusion

At Oasislife, we treat every individual with respect, patience, and optimism – working at their pace to build confidence, communication, and independence.

Our Support in Action

We take a holistic approach, supporting not just skills and routines but also self- esteem, social inclusion, and mental wellbeing.
Our teams provide assistance with:

  • Personal care and daily routines
  • Communication (including AAC tools)
  • Community engagement and volunteering
  • Relationship-building and social skills
  •  Managing health, medication, and appointments

We also support individuals who:

  • Display behaviours that challenge
  • Have forensic histories or have been in secure services
  • Are transitioning from children’s or hospital services to adult community
    settings

Our goal is not just care – but life enrichment, growth, and choice.

Autism Support at Oasislife Care

Respecting Neurodiversity. Supporting Individual Journeys.

At Oasislife Care, we embrace neurodiversity as a natural part of human variation. Autistic people often experience and interpret the world in wonderfully different ways – and we believe those differences should be valued, not pathologized.

We understand that autism is a core part of identity for many people. We focus not only on the challenges some autistic individuals may face, but also on their strengths, passions, and unique ways of thinking.

Whether someone thrives on structure, shows deep focus in special interests, or sees patterns others miss, we work to build support around who they are – not who others expect them to be.

“Recognising and celebrating each person’s strengths.”

What Is Autism?

Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition that influences how a person experiences communication, relationships, and sensory input. Some individuals may prefer routines, find social interaction difficult, or experience sensory sensitivities such as noise, light, or texture being overwhelming.

Others may find comfort in repetition or need extra support to manage unexpected changes in their day. Many autistic people have exceptional abilities, such as creative thinking, problem-solving, or attention to detail.

At Oasislife Care, we also support people with related neurodevelopmental differences such as:

  • Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Dyspraxia
  • Sensory processing differences
  • Social anxiety and co-occurring mental health conditions

Others may find comfort in repetition or need extra support to manage unexpected changes in their day. Many autistic people have exceptional abilities, such as creative thinking, problem-solving, or attention to detail.

How We Support Autistic People

Support from Oasislife is entirely person-centred, and always shaped around the needs, preferences, and communication style of each individual. We provide support in:

  • Supported living arrangements
  • Residential settings
  • Community outreach and floating support

We understand the importance of predictability, choice, and calm environments. Our teams are trained to reduce sensory overwhelm and provide communication in a way that works for the person – whether that’s through visual tools, social stories, or reduced verbal input.

We also work collaboratively with external professionals, such as:

  • Speech and Language Therapists
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Clinical Psychologists
  • Advocacy services

Together, we create a holistic support network that helps each person live a life that reflects who they are – not just their diagnosis.

Our Practice: Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)

All of our teams are trained in Positive Behaviour Support, an evidence-based approach that improves quality of life and reduces behaviours of distress.

PBS is not about “fixing” people. It’s about:

  • Understanding what someone is communicating through their behaviour
  • Identifying environmental or emotional triggers
  • Replacing restrictions with supportive strategies
  • Teaching new skills to promote confidence, communication, and control

Specialist Clinical and Behavioural Support

In complex or high-risk situations, we involve external specialists, including:

  • PBS Leads and Behaviour Analysts
  • Nurse-led Health Promotion Team
  • Forensic Mental Health Team

This ensures we offer safe, informed, and joined-up support, particularly for individuals at risk of hospital admission or involvement with the criminal justice system.

We work closely with:

  • Community learning disability teams
  • Social workers and commissioners
  • Mental health and neurodevelopmental services
  • Advocacy groups and families

Our staff receive specialist training, including:

  • Autism-specific education
  • The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training
  • Ongoing training in trauma-informed care and PBS
